Meet Maestra Johnson:
This year will be my 3rd year here at Puente de Hozho. I have enjoyed teaching kindergarten and watching all of
my students grow in the Spanish language. During the last 25 years I have taught kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. I have also worked as a reading specialist with the CLIP and SOAR programs.
I was born in Prescott, AZ then moved to Bagdad, AZ when I was in the 8th grade. I graduated from Bagdad High School with a class of 36 students. After graduation I went on to attend NAU and received my degree in Elementary Education, and a minor in Spanish. In the fall of 1991, I went back to NAU and received my Masters in Bilingual Education.
While in High School, I meet my wonderful husband. Ron is a school psychologist, and works on the Navajo and Hopi reservations. We have been married for 32 years and have 3 wonderful children. My oldest son, Dominique, graduated from NAU and is currently working in radio, in Juneau, Alaska. He is married and has one little girl. My daughter, Arrianna, is currently attending Midwestern University and will be graduating this June with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Diego, my youngest child, has a love for baseball and will be attending Luna Community College, in Las Vegas, New Mexico on a baseball scholarship and studying fire science.
Some of my favorite things to do:
I love to spend time with Family
Read
Hike & attending the High Altitude Personal Training Program
I enjoy watching baseball and love to attend Diamondback games!
I am planning to watch Diego play baseball this coming spring.
